Paul trained as an actor late in the last century. Theatre credits include: various roles in his own authorised adaptation of Catherine Cookson’s The Cinder Path for Entertainment Unlimited; Dad and others in the world premiere of My Uncle Freddie at the Customs House; Tristan De Winter in Seriously Dead, alongside Leah Bell, Crissy Rock & Tommy Cannon; Kevin in I Left My Heart In Roker Park (winning Best Performance Award in the 2015 WOW Awards and finalist in the Journal Culture Awards); the Dame in panto at Durham Gala for the past 5 years; Uncle in The Butcher’s Bill, and John Lilburne in Freeborn John, both for Canny Craic; Jimmy in Wise Men Say; Hamlet, Friar Laurence, Exeter and others in a season of Shakespeare for Cranked Anvil; performer at the 2016 & 2018 Sunday for Sammys. He founded sketch comedy group Don’t Trust Salmon, which performed to notable acclaim in the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe. TV and film credits include: Byker Grove ; Vera; George Gently; A Twist In The Tail. On radio: he wrote, produced and presented on Paul & Nessa’s Happy Hour for two years, and was a writer/performer for BBC’s Grin Up North.
Paul also works extensively as a writer, director and presenter.
