The year has been bubbling away gently so far, but now, I’m pleased to say, things are starting to pick up with pace.
Last month I reported that my adaptation of Catherine Cookson’s The Cinder Path is being revived, with producer Leah Bell staging a huge touring production this May and June. That’s ticking along nicely – and there are more confirmed dates for 2020, which I’ll be announcing in another post soon.
My next writing commission is a brand new Easter panto for under-7s. Produced and staged by Cranked Anvil Media, Bertie & Gertie’s EGG-cellent Adventure is playing for four performances during April, at the Little Theatre in Cleadon, Sunderland.
There are more and more companies producing ‘panto’ shows during half-term holidays, as parents and guardians are looking for increasingly fun and interesting things to do for their little ones – things that will entertain them and at the same time won’t break the bank. As far as I know, there are no shows like this available in Sunderland, so I’m delighted to be writing this one and looking forward to seeing it come to life over the next couple of months.
